Kauka, dentists, social workers, nurses, therapists, chiropracters and lomilomi practitioners spent one night on Maui and 3 on Kaho`olawe healing the island as the island healed them.

8/15/2004 - KALAUPAPA August 2004 Kauka, kauka haumana spent a day topside learning heart health before hiking down to Kalawao Peninsula. They spent two days meeting and learning from residents, engaging in community services projects, and preparing an `aha `aina for the residents of Kalaupapa. |

1/17/2004 - HUAKA`I I MOKU-O-KEAWE January 2004 Kauka, kauka haumana and their families spent the weekend on Hawai`i island. Highlighted by the ascent to the top of the volcano, the kauka and families learned about asthma, hgh altitude sickness and vog on Hawai`i island as well as the scientific, cultural and religious significance of Mauna Kea. Mauna Kea has become the perfect metaphor for the kauka: western scientists with the na`au connection to their roots.
Herb Kama Yim introduced the resident kupuna at Kohala Hospital, before Ron Martinson gave a most knowledgeable tour of North Hawai`i Community Hospital. Kumu John Keola Lake then shared his mo`olelo at Pu`u Kohola and Mailekini heiau. |
